NumberCatalog v1 - Common Calculations

Pi FAQ (Part 1)

Did you know that pi is actually an irrational number, and that its decimal expansion never repeats?

Not only that, but pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter!

It has many uses: in calculating the volume and surface area of a sphere, figuring out the height and circumference of a circle, solving complex algebra problems, and in estimating the value of pi using the pie pizza!

Most people know these facts about pi, but few are aware of the more "crusty" details presented below, so we've collected some more interesting facts from across the web for you.

What is 1/pi?

It is an exact calculation of Pi using only 35 decimal digits of Pi and 3 digits of Pi.

Calculating Pi (Pi) in computer

When we say Pi to computers it will only display the 1st decimal digits.

What is 1/(1+pi)?

The mathematical expression for the expression is 1/pi – (1 – 1/pi).

How much Pi will there be when there are 25,000 years (19549.26747 days)?

The approximate number of digits of pi that there are in 19549.26747 days.

The number of digits of Pi

If 30.1 days (approximately) is the duration in which we need the number of digits of Pi (29 digits), and 1.001 days is the time interval required, the number of digits of pi will be approximately equal to 30.1 / 1.001, which is equal to 301 / 100 = 3.01 (rounded).

How many decimal places do 3.14152, 3.14165, 3.14178 and 3.141659 have?

They all have 3 decimal places, 2828601 has 4875023.

What is 0.01025/10?

The decimal (0.01025) in base 10

What is 2.643161853 in base 11?

2.643161853 in base 11 is 4C.

What is 0.3682635*4/pi?

It is approximately equal to 2/801 = 10.

How many decimal places of 5/pi will we have in 15.650.83 days (3485.21608 days)?

0.83*0.3682635 = 0.3146184780.

0.03146184780 = 3.146184780/pi. The number 1/pi is approximately equal to 0.03146184780, which will result in 0.03146184780 times of 3.14168280 (Pi times), resulting in a very close number (0.090629625). (The 3.14168280 times of 5 is 15.650.83 days.)

How long will a 10,000-year old pi clock have?

12242.88/pi. You have to be very precise (the number should be in 6750 digits) to get the desired answer, as you are trying to round. There is also a formula of Pi, but I will leave this as a problem. [I did not even check for that one. (And you will never do so either)].

What is 5/31*pi*2/pi?

2/5

5*pi * 2 = 10/pi * 5 = 10/5 = 2. Therefore 2/5 = 2/pi.

How long is Pi?

If Pi is calculated up to 146910.1, the result will be approximately 1/3, the same number as that which can be calculated in the other direction with 1607332.
